What you are is never going to change, he keeps telling himself. The girl thinks this is sad, but what if it's not? But what if it is? Dude's head is in a whirl. He's crazy. Maybe the girl has left him?
It's a flashback. A visit to India, before the time of the movie. The young son is trying to take a selfie with a girl. She is getting all in his face, trying to distract him from the task at hand. Maybe she's evil. The bacha is a little too old, too. But this is a badge of honour for him. He knows all the parents. He has to make a good impression. It's a regular old babu's son. Yet we know this is India, because the parents explain to the daughter, while her son takes photos, what a career in Bollywood is all about. The son is a great admirer of Khan. It turns out that he wants to be an actor. He wants to be Salman Khan. Big deal. He's already one. Everyone calls him Prem, and he's a superstar. By now, we want to ask, why isn't the dad impressed? By now, we're impatient. The guy has to get back in time. He has a daughter, too. We've seen this show before.
